About Lightning Hybrids![]() Lightning Hybrids is an automotive research and manufacturing company that has designed a hydraulic hybrid retrofit system and two 100 MPG hydraulic-biodiesel hybrid cars. The Hydraulic Hybrid Technology for fleet vehicles provides 40 to 60 percent gas mileage efficiencies for fleet vehicles. The vehicles, the four-wheeled LH4 and three-wheeled LH3, are slated to be available starting in 2010. Both seat four and boast sports sedan performance (0-60 in 5.9 seconds) and unique visual appeal for $39,000-$59,000. Prototype manufacturing for the LH4 began in January 2009 (see our blog for updates) and was displayed at the Denver Auto Show in early April 2009. The hydraulic hybrid system was completed in June 2009 and is undergoing testing with manufacturing expected to begin in Loveland, Colorado in September of 2009. |
